I’m really excited to share today’s success story with you. You’ll hear from Darcie – a mother of 3 who is relatively new to Travel Freely and points and miles. Darcie is sharing her story to show how quickly points can start helping you get free travel.

Although she hasn’t taken any of her trips yet, Darcie has been acquiring points and miles for 3 months. In the short 3 months, she has earned enough points to book 2 trips for her family. Darcie’s incredible story shows the power of points, and how you can quickly start earning free travel.

With that said, let’s hear what Darcie has to share with us!

How did you get started earning points and miles?

I’ve used the southwest card for a few years now.  I would acquire points only through that one credit card.

How did you hear about Travel Freely?

It’s funny my parents and my sister and her husband have used Travel Freely for a bit.  They kept encouraging me to sign up.  I kept putting it off.

What was your biggest concern when getting started in points and miles, and did Travel Freely help address those concerns for you?

I think it’s just always been ingrained in me that credit cards are bad!  I’m a working mom of three hockey players, there is no way I have time to manage multiple accounts and even manage the miles.  I’m a stickler for a good credit score and didn’t want to jeopardize that. My little hockey players are starting to have out of town tournaments and we enjoy taking family vacations so I decided it was finally time to check it out.

I was a bit overwhelmed when I first started, I read the articles on how to get up and running.  I also reached out to Zac directly and he was very gracious to help calm my fears and get me started in the right direction.  He also asked for feedback about how to make it less overwhelming, so it is clear that he recognizes it can be daunting and is trying to simplify the process.  Once I was logged in, understood more about the tools available and how to find the right resources.  I can definitely say that Travel Freely has covered all of the bases.  The dashboard and calendar keep me organized and I watch for emails and facebook posts from Zac to keep informed.

What trips have you planned so far with points and miles?

My husband and I are taking a 5 day trip to San Francisco in March.  Then we are taking our family of 5 to Niagara Falls in the summer for an 8 day trip.  ALL ON POINTS!

How long did it take you to get the points for these trips?

Three months. We followed Zac’s advice on which cards to start with, signing up as authorized users on each others cards so we can hit bonuses, and here we are.

How has Travel Freely helped you, especially in ways other sites and tools haven’t?

I really appreciate the emails and posts. I still follow the calendar recommendations so just because a post talks about a great new card, I don’t always sign up but I feel like I know what our options are and next steps. It’s also free, which really helped when I was trying to decide if I should try it or not. I probably wouldn’t have given it a try if I had to pay for something that was such an unknown.

What recommendation would you have for others who are new, and unsure about starting with points and miles?

Don’t waste any more time.  We could have had so many more miles built up, more vacations we are only dreaming about planned if we just hadn’t waited.  Don’t tell my mom, who was trying to get me to sign up for months, that I’m saying she was right!

Thanks so much for sharing your story with us, Darcie! It helps everyone see that you can quickly earn enough points to plan some amazing trips. Thank you for your time, and we look forward to seeing what trips you have planned in the future.
