Some good news to share below for those who got an Amex or Chase card recently. Looks like the banks are wanting to make sure you have a good experience with them, and ensure you continue to put spending on their cards.

Chase Sign-up Bonus News:

If you signed up for a credit card with Chase from January 1, 2020 to March 31, 2020, then you should receive a 3-month extension to hit the required spending to earn your bonus. This is a surprising and generous move from Chase. Some people are already receiving messages with this news. You do not need to call or message Chase. This is automatic. However, it may give you extra confidence if you send a secure message to them and get this in writing.

American Express Welcome Offer News:

For Amex, extensions are for cards approved between December 1, 2019 and May 31, 2020. It applies to both personal and business credit cards issued by American Express.

The official language from Amex is: “…for eligible cards approved from December 1, 2019 through May 31, 2020 for which you are eligible for a welcome offer, the period to make eligible purchases to earn your welcome bonus will be extended for an additional 3 months. Eligible Cards are U.S. Consumer and Business Cards issued by American Express National Bank to a Basic Card Member.”

Our friends at Miles to Memories have been tracking this extensively. Here are their articles on Chase extensions and on Amex extensions.

Citi Sign-Up Bonus Extensions:

Citi extensions are for people who opened a new account with a sign-up bonus offer between December 1, 2019, and May 31, 2020. The extension is an additional three months to achieve the minimum spending requirement.
